When I place or receive calls, my phone seems to be in Simplex, or at most in half-duplex mode.

What can I do to make this problem go away?

Thanks,

Pasquale

Hey Pasquale,

What kind of phone do you have, a SIP phone, a PSTN phone attached to an ATA?

By Simplex and Half Duplex, do you mean one-way voice?

Is the SIP UA (ATA, SIP phone) behind a firewall?

Thank you for your prompt answer. I have a pap2 behind a firewall.

For non-duplex I meant exactly what you stated: the call is basically one-way, only one person at the time can talk otherwise one does not know if the other is saying something...

In particular I use callcentric for my main home line. Since my first posting I have tried to change some setting to my pbsex account by enabling "audio bypass" to that trunk with a slight improvement, but not a full duplex conversation.

Thanks,

Pasquale

The easiest way to test these issues is to eliminate the trunk from the equation.

Setup another extension on another ATA, at a friend's house or office, and verify if the issues persist. Tools to resolve these issues are, using a STUN server, passing the RTP packets via the SIP proxy by turning Audio By-pass Off, and opening ports on your firewall.

What kind of firewall do you have?

Unfortunately I have tried all of your suggestions several times. The problem must be PBXES.

Problems with your service got worse since I activated a 729 codec and now I have long delays in both making and receiving calls, and other problems with the PBXES (including callthru) but not with the individual trunks set-up alone. I can no longer use the fax and the callback features.

I had to remove my callcentric home line from PBXES and now callcentric works well. Luckily I have 2 lines on my PAP2 and use one for PBXES and the other for my callcentric line...

I hope to be able to use PBXES as my main line in the future, but I am having way too many problems to use it as my primary service for now.

I will be testing the service hoping in improvements because the service is very promising and would like to use it as my only phone system.

Thanks,
Pasquale

Fragezeichen RE: No DUPLEX Post Reply with Quote Edit/Delete Post Report Post to a Moderator       IP Information Go to the top of this page

Pasquale, we need some more details please:

  • Is the call really one-way (A) or do you get audio in both directions, but not at the same time (B). Reason for A could be a router or firewall problem, B would look like a problem with the terminal.
  • What about internal calls?
Please answer these questions already asked by Diafora. Otherwise we cannot help you.

The firewall is just the router one and its settings are as they were for over 6 months now. I have been running PBXES with the current settings for months, the only other thing was to check the pap2.

So, after reading posts of firmwares on paps2, I decided to downgraded my pap2 to a previous, more stable version of its firmware (3.1.22(LS) ) and things are better.

1) The calls were not fully duplex, what I mean is that if the other person says something it will not be audible on my side as I speak. I do get audio in both directions, but not at the same time.

2) Internal calls work much better, in general with no noticeable difference.

Again, things are better. I will run more test calls with the new firmware and keep you posted.

Thanks,

Pasquale
