I have soho account and few extensions.

For many extensions, whenever there is an incoming call (from outside or from another extension), it says "xx is on the phone" and call goes to voicemail.

I searched the FAQs - there was this given as a FAQ. It asked me to save the Extension again. I deleted and added one extension. But I still get the same problem.

ANy ideas? Does the PBX need to restarted or something?

How do I fix this?

Judging from the description of your issue, I conclude your extensions loose their registration to the associated PBXes server.

• What type of SIP User Agents (ATAs, IP phones, soft-clients) do you use?
• Are these SIP UAs behind a firewall with NAT?

This problem of incoming calls going directly going to voice mail is with all extensions associated with Cisco ATAs hardware boxes and also for Gizmo5 clients.

It is happening only for some extensions and not for all extensions.

The incoming calls to an extension 101 that goes to my Nokia E61 works fine.

I deleted and recreated these problematic extensions but the problem still persists.

Any ideas?

Then this looks like an incompatibility between these SIP UAs (NAT traversal) and the router which is creates the NAT.

To verify whether this conclusion holds, take a Cisco ATA and a laptop running the Gizmo5 soft-phone, to a friend's place who has a different router and ISP. Try to see if the issue is still present on his/her network.

• What kind of router are these SIP UAs normally behind?
• What type of Internet access (ADSL, Cable, WiMax) are these SIP UAs on?
