Strange problem and weird CID Post Reply with Quote Edit/Delete Post Report Post to a Moderator       IP Information Go to the top of this page

I am getting a strange CID show up on calls made from my voicetrading trunk.

It seems to be passing an additional country code. E.G. the trunk is set to relay CID 44xxxxxxxx but CID shows up as 35144xxxxxxxx.

I've contacted voicetrading and they say they don't interfere with CID settings and pass whatever they receive. There isn't anywhere to set or change CIDs in the voicetrading admin either so it's not something I inadvertently set.

As documented elsewhere on this forum, for passing CID with voicetrading I have the trunk username field with the {CID (44xxxxxxxxx)} I want passed and the password field with the account {password:username}.

I can't see where the 351 is coming from and how it's being appended to my CID. Any ideas? Could it be a rogue setting / glitch in PBXes?

the trunk is only used for outbound calls. Any help appreciated.

For month I have had something simular.

Normally what I do when I want to receive incomming caller id on a forwared call.

The usename field is left empty
password = set as: password:username

This way the incoming number gets forwared to my cellphone. Problem is that on some trunks, for example german did number 31 is set in front of the incoming call although I have no idea where this 31 is coming from. 31 is for the Netherlands so is might be a setup thing.

On outgoing trunks I have username and set the caller id there so for example 3120.....
at password I set password:username and this works.

Thanks for your reply. Interesting that you say you experience something similar. I don't use call forwarding though. This happens to me for normal outbound calls on the VT trunk.

I have the trunk set up as you say, i.e. username is set with CID 44207xxxxxxx, and password is set with my VT password:username.

For some unexplained reason when the recipient receives a call from the VT trunk their CID shows 351 (Portugal country code) in front of the number I specified as the CID in the username field i.e. they would see 35144207xxxxxxxx instead of just 44207xxxxxxx.

Where is the 351 coming from? There is no reference to Portugal in my VT account. The only reference to Portugal is in my PBX account where I have an outbound route set for local calls in Portugal.

I think it's a rogue setting in PBXes that is causing this although I cannot see anything within my setup.

Yes I am but the VT account isn't registered under the Portuguese address. My PBXes account isn't registered under the Portuguese address either. This is what I don't understand. Where is the Portuguese 351 code coming from?

My extensions are registered to PBXes' server in Paris. I have two VT trunks. One for local Portuguese calls set up with dial rules 00000351+2ZZX. and 00000351+9[1346]X. and one trunk for international calls set up with dial rules 000+X. (FYI the leading zeros are to force VT to use the premium routes).

I cannot find any other reference to 351 in my settings for the VT trunks. VT themselves say they don't interfere with CID so I need to know if there is any possibility if this is coming from a bad or left over setting in PBXes somewhere.

Then the only other identification is the IP of the extension you use to make the calls. If that is the case, it would be an unprecedented case of partly spoofing the CallerID.

Any chance you can setup an extension in another country, and see if the CallerID prefix changes? That would be a very interesting test, and I can help you with it if you wish.

Is the wrong CallerID limited to certain destinations? Which destinations did you dial?

Sorry for not responding sooner but I've been away.

It's difficult for me to check if the CID is affected to all destinations we call. Can't exactly ask a client - "BTW what CID showed up on your phone?"

I know for sure when we call Canada land lines the CID gets the 351 prefix added. Also calls to the Orange mobile network in the UK appends the 351 to the CID.

I will try check for calls to some other destinations we call.
