Extension is intermittently busy with no reason Post Reply with Quote Edit/Delete Post Report Post to a Moderator       IP Information Go to the top of this page

Guys, I need an advice.
Today I tried to call (callthrough) one my extensions (PAP2T), and was getting busy response, even though it wasn't "busy". Later I verified that extension didn't even ring.
After about an hour the problem have gone, and I could reach extension with no problem. I asked if they did anything to PAP2T box, like reboot, reconnect - but no, they didn't touch it.

What makes me wondering is the problem has disappeared after an hour with no intervention. If it disappears this way it will probably back in no time. Could it be something wrong with the extension at PBXes - stuck registration, hung up, whatever else? I'm wondering what could be a problem - any ideas what should I check?

A few questions to help determine the issue:

• Is the PAP2 on a private or public IP?
• What is its' re-registration interval to PBXes?
• If it's on a private IP, do you use STUN?
• If it's on a private IP, which router is in front of it?

private

600

yes

DLInk 524, it supports NAT with no problem

Take into account that most of the time it works with no problem at all, so I would hesitate to blaim router, it's a constant in the equation smile it must be something between PAP2T and PBXes extention

The question regarding the router was to determine whether it has a SIP ALG or not, but I don't think it does.

The Sipura SIP stack is one of the best in retaining its' registration to a SIP Proxy. If the issue remains, try setting the re-registration interval to 500 sec, or lowering the NAT refresh interval.

Maybe your router obtained a new dynamic address at that time and the terminal had not re-registered to it already? If you are working with dynamic IPs I would recommend even shorter intervals e.g. 120 seconds.

The reason why I'm doubt it's registration problem is that I tried to call few times during 15 minutes. ATA would surely re-register few times during that period, and even if dynamic IP has changed connectivity would be restored.

Also, previous time such thing happened I was next to a computer to check status and it showed the extension in green.

Can it be anything else?

When still registered to an old IP the status remains green. Your old interval for re-registers was 600 seconds which is 10 minutes.
