Fragezeichen Client registers continuously (about once per second) Post Reply with Quote Edit/Delete Post Report Post to a Moderator       IP Information Go to the top of this page

I experienced permanent traffic between my softphone (Blink Pro on OSX) and pbxes. Looking at some logs, I see that after each successful registration, the client starts to register again immediately.

I can see the same behavior with a remote ATA (OBI-110) that I administer.

It doesn't affect the ability to make calls, but the traffic is noticeable and unnecessary.

Both clients only show this when connecting to pbxes, not when connecting to e.g. Sipgate.

I noticed that in the registration confirmation, pbxes sends "Expires: 0" back to the client - could that be the reason?

Below is part of the system log of pbxes. You can see a complete cycle for the registration, and after success the new registration attempt started immediately by the client.

Is there something that I need to configure, either on the client(s) or pbxes?

Michael

Can you please verify if connectioncheck is set to Yes, under Device Options on your extensions setup?

If they are set to Yes, please change that to No.

Thanks for looking into this!

connectioncheck is no on all extensions.

In my softphone, there is a setting for the subscribe interval. This is set to 3600. I changed it to 0, which seems to completely suppress all subscribe messages to the server. Since then, the network load has come down significantly.

And yes, I DID mixup subscribe and register - sorry for that, I'm new to this.

This solves my problem for now. I still think that it's a bug that PBXes answers to subscribe messages with expires: 0. This seems to cause my client to sent subscribe messages over and over again. Not that I'm an expert on any of this ... ;-)

Thanks again

Michael
