Outbound routing improvements Post Reply with Quote Edit/Delete Post Report Post to a Moderator       IP Information Go to the top of this page

Outbound routing is great, but two questions about possible improvements:

1. If there are a lot of routing rules, it's annoying to add a new rule that belongs high up in the list, because you then must click on the up arrow OVER and OVER again until you reach the top. Is it not possible to simple set it up so one can enter the desired rule position number instead of (or in addition to) using arrows?

2. Sometimes, I want to create rules for the same extension that follow the same pattern for multiple dialing patterns (e.g., extension 10 should use trunk two if someone dials numbers starting either with 0045, 0049 or 0033). Right now, you have to create multple rules, because it doesn't seem to allow for putting commas between rules (e.g., under number starting with: "0049,0045,0033"). Is it possible to allow for this?

Thanks in advance!

"Number starting with" allows you to enter several lines, e.g.:

0049
0045
0033

That should greatly reduce your number of rules.

Concerning your second question, if you require greater control of your outbound calls, along with extensive use of least cost routing (LCR), you should look into utilizing the "Custom Dial Patterns" field in your Outbound Routes.

For example, your Broadvoice FlatRate outbound route, should provide you with access to the landline numbers of all the countries of the specific package, but not the mobile numbers of the european destinations, which most certainly are at higher rates.

This cannot be achieved by specifying only the country code of a destination in the "Numbers starting by" field of the outbound route. In general, you should refrain from using "loose" routing patterns. They tend to cost dearly in the long run. There is an Optimization service offered by PBXes, you might want to look into, to deal with these types of issues.
