Nokia E61 Nightmares Post Reply with Quote Edit/Delete Post Report Post to a Moderator       IP Information Go to the top of this page

Before upgrading the sotware on my E61, I could get it to work with pbxes.com. Now, even with the smartroaming client, I cannot get it work. Coversely, however, truphone is working fine on the same unit going through the same routers. I've used numeric IP addresses and regular ones. I've tried connecting through three different routers. No problem with truphone, problems with pbxes.

While I recognize that having both configurations on my machine at the same time could be an issue, I've disabled one before trying the other. Additionally, I only tried truphone after constantly striking out on pbxes.

Before anyone raises the issue, I am connecting from the UK, not the UAE at the moment.

If the moderator wants to look at my extensions, look at 9125.

Dumb question, but was the modification that was done in July to allow the European server to work with smartroaming's client also done to the US server?

I can now connect directly to PBXes. Smartroaming is still misbehaving.

Could someone else with smartroaming try the service and see how it works for them. It was working wonderful and then it disappeared.

Still Confused Post Reply with Quote Edit/Delete Post Report Post to a Moderator       IP Information Go to the top of this page

I set up an account with Truphone and it works with smartroaming, but I still can't get pbxes to work with smartroaming. I am thoroughly confused.

While I would be tempted to just ditch smartroaming, there
are a number of reasons why this is not practical for me.

Today SmartRoaming extended our trial account and I could see if it works. Surprisingly everything was okay. I could register, send and receive calls!

Humm,

I had a few minutes of boredom while I was being stood up for a meeting and tried again without sucess. I can register just fine on my home and work nets, but rarely can register on smartroaming. I suceeded one or two times amongst many failures, but the next day (without changing any settings), things failed. I'll keep trying.

The only thought I have is I also installed truphone as a client on my machine and it works great. Is it possible that it could have changed some setting? I hate to reformat my entire unit on spec., but that sounds like what this might come to.

Today, I backed up my phone and did a hard reset. I reinstalled smartroaming and created an access point to my home router. I then created a working sip client setting using my home router directly. I confirmed it worked. Then I created a duplicate and changed the access point on the duplicate to smartroaming. I added both clients to my voip profile. The one that did not use smartroaming worked. The one that did use smartroaming did not.
Truphone was not part of the mix on this test.

I was curious whether your E61 was using the original firmware or version 2.618.06.05. I'm using the newer firmware. That's all I can think of.

Could you indulge me in a small favor. After making sure that you can connect over smartroaming, switch your account to the American server and try it again. When I moved my account over to the European servers, it worked! I know there shouldn't be a difference, but it worked.

Thanks for finding this! Actually there was a typo in our code that caused the incompatiblity on one server in Nürnberg and in San Diego. We corrected it.

It still works for me. Our PBX runs in Nürnberg.
