caller ID in from field Post Reply with Quote Edit/Delete Post Report Post to a Moderator       IP Information Go to the top of this page

Hi,

I'm trying to send my caller ID, but my provider wants me to change the caller Id in the "from" field, such as below

From: "somebody" <sip:CID_NEEDS_TO_BE_HERE @voiphost.com>;tag=as4671e030

Any ideas? I assume it gets that from my username, but if I change that I won't be able to register.

Thanks

edit: I'm really baffled by callerID. From sip.conf
callerid= <106>
However, if I set the CallerID field on that extension, it works ok and shows no my phone, yet still shows up as 106 in sip.conf. If I don't set the callerID and dial out, then it get's shown on my phone as +106. Which is obvisouly not a valid external number. I use csipsimple, which has a CallerID field. Why isn't this being passed onwards to the trunk? It seems to get over written with my 106 extension number

Sorry if this makes no sense!

Have you tried leaving the username field blank?

The password field would the then

password:username

This is the trick to have voicetrading receiving the right CLI. Maybe it is the same for your provider.

Strange, I thought I replied to this..

Anyway, yes the trunk is set up that way. It works mostly.

1 - If I set CID on the trunk, it sends it ok.
2 - If I set CID in the Extension in pbxes, it send its ok
3 - If i set CID on the softphone that connects to the extension, it doesn't work. Instead, it sends the caller ID as my extension number. I need this overwriting with the CID field that I put into the softphone.

I think this is a kind of customization you have to ask to personal support.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to work this way. I don't think it needs any customisation. It works fine for the most part, I'd jsut like to set the cid on the softphone rather than on pbxes.

Maybe you're right though. I'll wait for iptel / diafora
