More Info on Custom App

Hi,

There is a destination "Custom App" in Inbound routing which allows one to send a call to a "custom context". I know that this is for "advanced" users, but where can I get some more info on that?
In particular, where do I enter those custom contexts? And also, can I use austerisk' variables there, like ${EXTEN}, ${EXTEN:1} etc?
What I would like to make, is to redirect certain incoming calls to outbound proxy with the same extension (or slightly modified).
I am trying to make it using Custom App:
"custom-main,${EXTEN},1"
I tried to make a "custom-" outbound route, with the name "custom-main", but the system doesn't permit me to do this saying "Route name is invalid, please try again".

Fragezeichen RE: More Info on Custom App

Hi,

"custom contexts" may not be entered yet. Outbound routes are something different. What exactly is your application?

Best regards,
Pascal

What I want to do the following:

I have registered a voip-in (PSTN) number with a sip provider in my home country. I whant all (or selected) calls to this number to be forwarded through PBX to another PSTN number in other country (using, possibly, some other sip provider). In this way, for instance, my parents or friends can reach me by dialing their local number(s). This gives me also advantage, that I, in particular, can change the number they can reach me at any time I want to.

A similar scenario, is that I want to call abroad from my mobile through PBX.

So, in terms of your PBX, I have no "extensions" to register, only "trunks", but I need to have a routing between those trunks.

This could be relatively easy implemented in asterisk by registering two sip proxies and sending inbound calls of one proxy to a context which dials a particular number using other proxy. However, this requires an asterix server running somewhere. That's why I was interested in your solution.

However, it seems to be that in your PBX, all inbound calls can be forwarded only to "extensions", and not to "trunks", which seems to be required by what I want. So, is it possible (or will be possible) to implement the above scenario in your system?

Thanks in advance.

Text Classical Extensions

OK, that's easy.

In our PBX an extension on a trunk is called a "classical extension". All you have to do is create some of these for the PSTN numbers you want to forward to, and in your inbound routes specify the corresponding extension numbers as destinations.

Got it!
Thank you for a quick reply. I'll try it out.

Fragezeichen Still confused with "classical extensions"

In order to dial on PSTN, I need to use some sip-trunk, right?
So, which trunk is used for inbound routing to a "classical extension" then?

Here is how I tried it, step-by step:

1. I created a "classical extension" for some PSTN number, say 00123456789
2. I created a route in "Inbound Routing" and selected this extension in "Set destination". So all inbound calls are suppose to be forwarded to this number.

The question is, where do I set the trunk which is used for this forwarding? Or does this mean that the call is simply "redirected" instead of being placed through PBX?

When I did the above steps and called from a softphone to the sip number associated with a registered trunk, I got "Remote user is offline". Doing the same but when "Inbound Routing" is set to a "sip extension" works as expected.

Did I get anything wrong?

RE. Still confused with "classical extensions"

Your calls are not "simply" redirected on the incoming trunk. Inside the PBX they take the following steps:

I.e. the outbound route sets the trunk to be used for the forwarding. Probably you just have to create one.

Daumen hoch! works now

I've finally managed to make it, as you told me. Thanks. Augenzwinkern
The only problem now, is that I cannot reach my extensions from a softphone which is not registered with my pbx (see the other thread).
