"Follow Me" Delays
So here's the scoop:
I have a premium account with Follow Me enabled on a particular extension...when someone calls, punches the extension in, they are transferred...rather quickly to the outbound trunk that sends the call to my cell phone.......the problem:
When a call is forwarded and I answer it, I can actually speak to the party for about 20 seconds until they are cut off and the system announces their phone number...which defeats the purpose of the system, to notify you who's calling before you answer.
Also, there's no tone or confirmation or anything on either side after clearing the call to be sent through...which would be helpful.
Still, this is just a minor issue...this service is saving my non-profit hundreds of dollars a year and I couldn't be more ecstatic. Thanks so much!
RE: "Follow Me" Delays
Please try setting EarlyConnect on the outbound route to your cellphone and let us know the results.
Disastrous -- with EC on, calls terminate when they are answered on the cell, and there's no ringing at all to indicate that the transfer is even taking place after the extension is dialed.
Out of 10 attempts after turning EC back off, one worked properly -- number announced as soon as phone is answered. However, there is silence on the caller's line once the cell phone is answered, which might throw them off...could it be made to continue ringing until this confirmation is complete?
RE: "Follow Me" Delays
The idea behind my proposal was to check whether your provider signals call connection properly. Apparently it does not. Moreover it does not send a proper ringback.
So I suggest that you try this with another provider calling to your cellphone. This will likely also cure the problem with ringback while Caller ID gets announced.
