difference between authentication realm and user name

Hi

I tried to add budgetphone as a trunk, but it won't register. In the F.A.Q. on their site they explain that Asterisk users should use budgetphone.nl for authentication realm and sip.budgetphone.nl for user URI. I noticed on some sip clients like the Nokia E60 that the config talks about users en realms. But on PBXes, when adding a trunk, one can only set a username? Is there a way to change this?

According to the F.a.Q. of budgetphone the registration rule in Asterisk should read like this: register =><telefoonnr>@budgetphone.nl:<password>:<telefoonnr>@sip.budgetphone.nl

Or use srvlookup: register => 31
nummer@budgetphone.nl:wachtwoord:31nummer:abcd1234@sip.budgetphone.nl

Regards
Fred

RE: budgetphone - difference between authentication realm and user name

We have changed something. Please try a plain configuration now with "budgetphone.nl" as SIP server, your username and password.

RE: budgetphone - difference between authentication realm and user name

bobmats, please leave the domain name out of username. That's what was meant by "plain configuration".

If you have further questions or issues on this subject please follow-up here. Thanks!

RE: budgetphone - difference between authentication realm and user name

This really sucks.

You just remove my post about a complaint and don't answer it, just pointing me to this old thread. This is typical for you.

As I have explained before. Bugetphone has worked for me using the setting i had. This is a fact for 2 years.

It just stopped working. the log files showed it would not register using the setting i have been using for 2 years.

My only conclusion is that something must have changed from your side without telling us. There is no other explanation.

This is also an advice but I doubt that you will follow this.
In many answers you have given I just see you point to another thread and that's it. Often leaving the person asking the question still full of answers. This behaviour is arrogant, rude and unprofessional and not very customer friendly.

If you spent 1 minute more answering someones problem or at least give the impression that you care you will look more customer friendly.

Now it just seems that you don't care and just take our money every month and in case of a problem see that thread or the other one and find out yourself.

RE: budgetphone - difference between authentication realm and user name

You were still using the old configuration (that was changed in this "old" thread).

I want to bring your request into the right context. For you, to see the full history if you haven't seen already, and for the other users that also want to continue on the same context.

If you don't like this approach to solving the problem, with PBXes you have the option of personal support working on your personal assignment.

I have seen that your trunks are registered again.

RE: budgetphone - difference between authentication realm and user name

We are going in circles here, is it really that diffucult to answer a logical straightforward question.

I was using the in your words old config sip server: sip.budgetphone.nl and username: 31xxx@budgetphone.nl and this has worked since 2 days ago.

If this was the old config why did it still work than for more than 2 year untill 2 days ago.
This is a logical question.

The first thing I did when the trunk went out is call budgetphone support. Nothing was changed on their part.

The config I am using now is using the new budgetphone sip server and for that config I am using

31xxx@sip1.budgetphone.nl
and sip server sip1.budgetphone.nl

This is now working for the new sip1 server but it's not in your advice here. So when this stops working for whatever reason I am left in the dark again ?

For your information budgetphone support told me over time they will shutdown the old server, so prepare for this.

About personel support I would have taken it if it would have solved the problem as it was an important issue for me.
The problem with personal support is responce time. How long will it take to get personal support is there any responce time you guarantee, if paying for urgent problem one can al least expect some indication.
do you offer 24/7 365 dayes a year paying support.

No where on your site can this information be found. Responce time on the forum is not that good for issues like this so are they any better for paid support ?

RE: budgetphone - difference between authentication realm and user name

I suggest that you test the "new" configuration on a trunk if you have some spare time. Other clients are using it and it does not look like a hack as the old one. I don't know why the old config still worked for you.

Response time for personal support cannot be guaranteed. You can reach us on the phone on weekdays 10am to 5pm CET. Usually we complete work by the end of the day, if it is urgent, also on weekends.

bobmats

bij mij werken de nieuwe sipservers perfect.
vergeet je niet na het omzetten naar de nieuwe server
de d\budgetphone doorschakeling uit te zetten via hun web interface.

anders werkt het namelijk niet........!

RE: budgetphone - difference between authentication realm and user name
