skype connect callerID

Hi,
I use skype connect, easy to set up and works well.
I now want to route via different inbound routes depending on skype callerID but unfortunately the skype caller ID as shown in call monitor doesn't seem to function in the inbound route callerID selection. Is this because callerID must be numeric or am I missing something.
Any assistance appreciated
