quality / transcoding

Hi,

I've been using sipdroid for for most of my calls, and have been relying on speex. To *43 everything seems ok, however to anywhere else there seems to be a large amount of latency and the quality is quite poor. This includes internal extension (that don't support speex). I assmue this is a transcoding issue (is that the word?), where the pbx translate the speex into something the other end can understand. Is the loss in quliaty and increase in latency normal?

Is there a solution other than using ulaw (or 729)?
