Incoming calls dropped
I have a trunk by iPlan, a major carrier from Argentina. The sip proxy is proximo.iplannetworks.net. When some other user of the service calls me it works flawlessly, but when I am called from the PSTN, PBXes drops the call. No matter if I am online or not, the call is dropped and the caller gets a busy tone, not even the voice mail... and so quickly that it doesn't even ring my extension. The problem must be somewhere at PBXes, cause if I connect to that trunk directly using a softphone (X-Lite) or an ATA I can get all the calls.
Any idea for solving the issue?

Just to ensure I understand this properly, when you have an ATA setup as a PBXes extension, inbound calls from the PSTN on your iPlan Argentinean DID fail to be terminated to your ATA. The ATA rings on the inbound call, but the voice path never gets established and the call drops.
But if you setup your ATA directly to the iPlan's SIP Proxy, all inbound calls terminate properly on your ATA.
If the above is an accurate description of your issue, then it's almost certain there is a vocoder incompatibility between the trunk and the extension. This theory is also supported by the presence of these messages "Unknown RTP codec 126 received" in your System Log.
• What type of ATA are you using?
• Consider upgrading to a Premium account, to get the G.729 Passthru feature, on a 14-day trial basis.
• Contact iPlan and verify which vocoders they support, because they are not really clear on their website.

Not precisely. When I use the ATA (Sipura SPA2100) or softphone directly with the trunk, everything works OK. If I use as trunk of PBXes the phone doesn't even ring. The codecs supported by iPlan are g729 and g711a/u. Thanks!

The fact you have an SPA-2100 for ATA has the advantage it can act as a router too, if you bridge your ADSL or Cable modem.
But if the phone doesn't even ring, when you set up the SPA as an extension and your iPlan DID is called, points to another issue altogether.
• Have you setup any Inbound Routes on your PBXes account to direct the inbound calls?
• Do you have another DID from a different ITSP for which calls are answered through PBXes?

There was an incoming route problem. Now it rings but the call drops when I try to answer. Anyhow, iPlan supports g711a and g711µ, so I think it should work...

Well, it should work but somehow when the voice path is about to open the call drops. This is definitely a vocoder issue, and is indicated by this notice "Unknown RTP codec 126 received" in your System Log.
• Do you have another DID from a different ITSP for which calls are answered through PBXes?
• Please disable all the vocoders on Line X of the SPA-2100 and set the Preferred Codec G711a, as well as the Second Preferred Codec to G711u.
• Can you provide me with the number of the DID so I can send a few test calls?
In the event that we get this particular DID to work with PBXes, I urge you to consider testing the G.729 Passthru feature, since hauling G.711(a or μ) packets across the Atlantic is not very reliable all the time. The iPlan SIP Proxy is already over the 200ms boundary from the www5 Paris server:

Indeed, I used the SPA2100 for testing, but the phone I want to use is my HTC Hero running Sipdroid.
I'm already using it for another trunk by ippi.fr (+33469665903). The PSTN number of my iPlan trunk is +541152789088.

In case you don't get an immediate answer to your question in the future, please consider the possibility we didn't see your new posting in time, or that we needed some extra time to reflect on the proper course of action regarding your issue.
If we wished to ignore your issue, we could have deleted the original message in this thread, and certainly not spend the time to ask you questions about it, devise tests you can try to determine where the issue lies, or provide tips to improve the quality of your voice communication. We would neither spend the time to answer this during a weekend, nor make the effort to preserve your protest and incorporate it on your last message in this thread.
As a reference for the future, to ensure that we see your new comment(s), please edit your last message and add it (them) in the existing thread, instead of creating a brand new thread which we have to delete, since it serves no purpose.
Resuming the discussion regarding your issue, if you have tried using the SPA-2100 as a PBXes extension, and the incoming calls to your iPlan DID got answered successfully, the interaction between the iPlan and the PBXes SIP Proxies does not seem to have any issues.
As I mentioned in my last message, I am pretty sure there is a vocoder incompatibility issue, between the iPlan SIP Proxy and the SIP stack of the HTC Hero.
• Have you tried setting up the SIPDroid on the HTC Hero directly on the iPlan SIP Proxy?
• Do the inbound calls to your iPlan DID get answered properly through the HTC Hero?
• Have you tried setting up your ippi.fr account as a trunk on PBXes, and successfully answer calls through the HTC Hero as a PBXes extension?

Well, I did all the testing. Though I can't answer iPlan calls through PBXes, I can answer them if the trunk is configured directly into my HTC Hero's softphone or a Mac softphone -none of them supports g729, calling is working properly with g711. On the other hand, I can answer the calls from ippi trunk via PBXes without any problem.

So lets try to recap what we know so far. If something on the list does not fit, or has not been tried, let me know.
• All inbound calls to the ippi.fr & iPlan trunks when configured on PBXes can be answered through the FXS ports of the SPA-2100.
• Inbound calls to the ippi.fr trunk when configured on PBXes can be answered through SIPDroid running on the HTC Hero.
• Inbound calls to the iPlan trunk when configured on PBXes fail to be answered through SIPDroid running on the HTC Hero.
If the first two assumptions are correct, the issue lies between the SIP Proxies of PBXes & iPlan as well as the SIPDroid SIP stack. Let me know whether the above is correct so we can pinpoint where this issue lies.

Everything is correct. Just add that iPlan calls, though fail with Sipdroid via PBXes, are correctly answered if connected directly to Sipdroid.

Based on what we have determined so far, the issue seems to lie between the PBXes SIP Proxy and SIPDroid's SIP stack.
Please open an ticket at SIPDroid's site, so it can be properly handled.
