Fragezeichen Country displayed in call monitor

Hi,
I have noted that some UK calls show a different country in call monitor. The phone call is correct, just the call monitor display thats wrong.
It happens on UK numbers beginning with 011 (shows as Belgium or Ecuador etc).

Could this be related to the fact that my softphone users just dial the UK number, and the routing/trunks handle the International formatting.

RE: Country displayed in call monitor

The Country name shown in the Call Monitor, is based exclusively on the dialed digits arriving to PBXes via the SIP User Agents.

So if you can prefix the Country Code in the soft-phones, that will take care of this issue. Keep in mind the appropriate prefixes before the Country Code are [+], [00], [011].

RE: Country displayed in call monitor

Hi,
ok, that confirms what I thought.
The reason I didn't prefix with country code was because some UK premium rate numbers are not carried by the trunk provider so are routed to our pstn. The pstn doesn't like an international format on some special numbers. Also my softphones don't have the facility to prefix the dialled number in the same way as my ATAs.
I will just have to process the pstn route to remove the international format.
OK no problem, thanks for the reply

RE: Country displayed in call monitor

If the proper display of the Country Codes is important you can prefix it in the soft-phone and the ATAs and remove it in the Inbound Routes (after it is matched) or even on the Trunk level (albeight more cumbersome).

Which soft-phone do you use? Does it support a dial-plan?

RE: Country displayed in call monitor

I'm using NCH Express Talk softphones (only because I used them with the previous NCH Axon server) and haven't noticed any dial plan options.
There is no issue when using the Linksys ATAs dial plans which add the 0044 prefix for me.
My PBX routing works nicely, accepting both international format and UK format. The odd country display in the PBXes call monitor only became apparent when softphones dialled 011 UK numbers.
I can live with it as I don't use the country information in the PBX call monitor view. Its a measure of how nicely the PBX is working that I have only minor things like this to look at !
