Picking up ringing extension

Is there a feature on pbxes which allows you to pick up another ringing extension from your extension and answer the call?

I have a Lynksys spa941 on my desk - my colleague has one on his. If one of us is away from his desk, it would be good for the other to be able to pick up the other's calls (without getting up and walking over to the ringing extension fröhlich

Thanks

Hi,
The **ext pickup feature as noted in the docs should work for you.

RE: Picking up ringing extension

With the current firmware version of the SPA-941 phones, this functionality is not supported natively.

You can follow Ron's suggestion if the DTMF works properly on your phone, or take a look at the suggestions below.

If the calls to your extensions originate from a DID's Inbound Route, you can achieve this with two Ring Groups. Setup a ring group for your calls with your extension first and your colleague's extension second. Change the "ring strategy" to memoryhunt and the "ring time" to 5 - 10 seconds. The inbound calls will ring to the first extension first, and then to both extensions.

Alternatively, you can set your extension number in the "If No Answer" field of the Call Forwarding section, of your colleague's extension and vice versa with his extension number in yours'.
