Dual purpose Inbound Route

Is there a way to define an Inbound Route, where it normally rings to an Extension or Ring Group, but if you press a key combination before or during the ringback, it drops into a CallThrough mode?

It should have a similar implementation with the Fax Switch option, where a pause can be inserted to detect fax tones.

A hidden digital receptionist (with silence instead of a voice menu) could be used for this purpose.
